Votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Sorrows - (2025-01-13)

The Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as Our Lady of Sorrows, is a title that honors her profound suffering and sorrow during the life and death of her son, Jesus, specifically focusing on the seven sorrows she experienced. 
The Seven Sorrows of Mary:
  • The Prophecy of Simeon: Simeon, a righteous man, foretold that a sword would pierce Mary's soul when Jesus was presented in the Temple.
  • The Flight into Egypt: The Holy Family fled to Egypt to escape King Herod's persecution of Jesus.
  • The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple: Mary and Joseph lost Jesus for three days in Jerusalem, only to find him in the Temple, engaged in religious discourse.
  • Mary Meets Jesus on His Way to Calvary: Mary met Jesus on his way to the cross, witnessing his suffering and the events leading to his crucifixion.
  • The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus: Mary stood at the foot of the cross, witnessing the crucifixion and death of her son.
  • The Body of Jesus Being Taken from the Cross: Mary received the body of Jesus after he was taken down from the cross.
  • The Burial of Jesus: Mary witnessed the burial of her son.
