St. Maria Goretti

Maria Goretti (16 Oct 1890 – 6 July 1902) Virgin Martyr, Her dad died when she was 9, and the family had to share a house with another family. As her mother and other siblings worked in the field, she remained to do home chores.

St. Gemma Galgani

Daughter of Passion," for her intense replication of the Passion of Christ. She was born on March 12, 1878, in a small Italian town near Lucca. At a very young age, Gemma developed a love for prayer. She made her First Communion on June 17, 1887. Gemma was loved by her teachers and her fellow students, as a student at a school run by the Sisters of St. Zita. Though quiet and reserved, she always had a smile for everyone. Unfortunately, Gemma had to quit school due to her chronic ill health before completing the course of study.

St. Charles Houben

His ability to stand with people and to read what was in their hearts made him the apostle of the poor in a city filled with people who were poor. His love and amazing kindness shone through and touched the lives of thousands of people. “Our Father Charles” became the talking point of Dublin. He was named Saint Charles. His feast is January 5.

Bl. George Spencer Ignatius of St.Paul

Spencer was first an Anglican priest who later met the Passionist Congregation. After a long search he found his way into the Catholic church and the Passionist Congregation. On 5 January 1847 George Spencer received the Passionist habit from the hands of his old friend Dominic Barberi, who brought the Passionists to England in 1841.

Bl. Pio Campidelli

He had a very strong devotion to the Eucharist and to our Lady. Before his ordination, he was struck with TB (tuberculosis). By his 21st year he offered his illness and his life for the life of the Church and the Pope and his beloved Romagna part of Italy. Pio Campidelli is a reminder that life isn’t measured by the number of our birthdays, but in the passion with which our lives are lived in serving Christ and his sisters and brothers.

Bl. Grimoaldo Santamaria

Born to Peter Paul and Cecilia Santamaria on May 4 1883 and baptized Ferdinando the following day. He was born not far from a place that became famous in World War 2 as the scene of terrible losses of soldiers in the battle of Monte Cassino. His parents ran a small rope-making business. Young Ferdinando was a young man in a hurry. He was Confirmed at the amazingly young age of five months. He wanted to join the Passionists but was too young and had to cool his heels and wait. He said to his father one day: “Life flows like water… Our days quickly pass away… And then what?” He already had a wisdom beyond his years.

Bl. Dominic Barberi

Dominic Barberi was an Italian Passionist with a heart on fire with love for England. He contributed a great deal to the spread of the Catholic faith in England and was a significant influence in the conversion of John Henry Newman. Dominic joined the Passionists in 1814 when religious orders could function again after Napoleon supressed them.

Bl. Eugene Bossilkov: True Pastor of Persecuted People

Vincent Bossilkov was born in 1900 in Bulgaria. He entered the Passionists who had served in Bulgaria since 1781 and took the name Eugene. He professed his vows in 1920. He wrote a thesis on the Union of Bulgarians with the Holy See in the early 13th century. Back in Bulgaria, he became parish priest in the Danube River valley. He was a scholar and also famous for his work among young people.

Fr. Carl Schmitz

April 26, 2004, 60th anniversary of his ordination as a priest, Fr. Carl Schmitz, CP began his ministry in the Philippines. He grew up on the northwest side of Chicago, USA. He was a deeply committed missionary who served in the United States and in the Passionist missions in China, Japan, and the Philippines. A local man with suspected paramilitary ties murdered him on the steps of his mission in April 7, 1988.

Vincent lived in a turbulent time in the 18th century as the world was falling into various revolutions that changed the future or France, England, America and then the world.

St. Gabriel of our Lady of Sorrows

St. Gabriel was a young exuberant Novice of the Passionist Order who loved Mary so much. He promised the on his healing from sickness he shall join the Congregation. He died of Pneumonia before his First Profession. He is the Patron Saint for youths in Italy

Saint Paul of The Cross (born Jan. 3, 1694, Ovada, Republic of Genoa [Italy]—died Oct. 18, 1775, Rome; canonized 1867; feast day October 19) was the founder of the order of missionary priests known as the Passionists.
